The design brand Carlijn Olde Beverborg can be seen as a metaphorical factory where machinic objects are taken from their own habitat and vividly transformed into interior objects. As they enter our home environment, the objects become ‘companion objects’. They want to be interacted with, they share their story within our most personal and private spheres.
In the work, objects are considered equals, friends, a source of companionship, intimacy and security. Since both, humans and objects, seem to struggle for their acknowledgment and presence in the current society the work compels you to think about our desire to see others and to being seen by others.
